Cons: It would consistently lose connection to the computer and also would not read discs intermittently for the first 12 months to approximately a 50 50 shot. After that it was a 90% failure rate in reads and connections.
I then updated the firmware, to no avail. It actually worked for 24 hours than same failures. Since it only has a 12 month warranty its a brick. Had I read some of the other reviews throughout the web I would have know of this shortcoming and that LG would not rectify it due to cost. I admit, at first I thought it was my system because I had raid issues but after rectifying them I ran out of excuses to defend the drive. It is a waste of money.
Don't be like me and buy something else. Pros: Given everything, reasonably easy install. Plays blu ray disks at full HD. Have not tried other tools.
Cons: I have multiple displays on my system. One of them, a secondary display, is configured in windows as portrait orientation. PowerDVD 10 will not even start in this configuration. There are lots of forum entries about this and this requires an upgrade to the latest version of the player to fix it. There is a charge for the upgrade.
If you really want to watch a bluray movie and you don't want to spend the money, you can change the orientation of the display and then rotate the display and it works fine. In my particular case, it's a secondary display that is portrait and the primary display is landscape. If I want to watch a movie ON THE PRIMARY DISPLAY, I have to change the SECONDARY display to landscape. Note also that, if you do get it to start, PowerDVD10 does have an update, but the most recent update does not fix this problem. Support for portrait displays is considered NEW FUNCTION, not a bug, and therefore is only in versions after version 10. Silly because windows has had portrait displays for years.
Pros: I love this Blu-Ray burner! Super fast, plug and play, and looks great by my Apple. I can confirm other reviewers, this player/burner works with my iMac. Plug it into the wall and USB 3.0 and turn the device on.

Easy as that. Cons: Disc has jumped a couple times inside tray. Scared me at first, but after ejecting there was no damage done to the disc. Other Thoughts: As of now, this is the fastest Blu-ray drive available.

Pros: Immediately recognized by Win 8.1 on two different computers. It is much more quiet than I thought it would be, though it can spin up and be loud for brief periods. It is extremely attractive. Someone reported that the main body of it is cheap plastic. I'm sure it's some form of composite, but it does not look cheap at all IMHO, but rather elegant.
It seems very well built. So far, I am very pleased with the software suite that came with it despite being dated. The Cyberlink PowerDVD works well without issue. For those not wanting to use the software, there is a way to get VLC to play Blu-Ray, I've been successful on two computers. It takes a little work, but it does work quite well. Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: The price is a tad steep, but it appears to be a well-built gadget and the software is really a plus. You get what you pay for, and I suspect I will not be getting too many more burners as these seem to be a fading technology. I hope this lasts for while. It looks like it should.
